"My son and I are creating a legacy of 'Making Memories' that now extends beyond Y-Guides into other areas and activities in our lives."
- Running Bear
The Y-Guides program values the opportunity to help teach your child the importance of serving others. An important and unique opportunity within the program is parents and children working together to develop and enjoy volunteer leadership skills. Participating together in events such as Park Clean-Up Days, stocking food pantries and collecting school supplies are examples of opportunities we create for a child to learn to be a servant leader who positively impacts their community.
As a Federation, we coordinate at least four group community service opportunities during the school year. We encourage tribes and individuals to volunteer and serve our community. If you are looking for a service opportunity for your tribe you may consider:
- Loaves and Fishes
- Operation Christmas Child
- Crisis Assistance Ministry
- Classroom Central
- Toys for Tots
- Park Clean Up
- Y.G. H.O.W. H.O.W. (You Gave to Help Others Without)
Each year as one of our service projects, the Y-Guides program raises funds for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte's Community Outreach Campaign. Funds we raise help ensure that Y-Guides membership and events are available to all families in our community.
